I am always pleasantly surprised by the good time I have with my customers. I don’t always have the energy to feel like a “people person” so some days the prospect of leading a group of people through an activity can be a little daunting. Yesterday was one of those days. I’ve had a lot on my mind, and our family is going through a transition, and I was just tired. But I had a class, so I gathered up all my goodies and got moving.
To my delight, the ladies who arrived at my class last night were so warm and engaging and funny. We sat around the table and talked and crafted and talked some more and it really felt like we’d known each other longer than the one hour we spent together. I was in such a good mood when class was over, I almost didn’t want to go home; I wanted to stay and gab with these girls a little longer. I wasn’t tired any more, I was energized and happy, and in a fantastic mood (which my husband was very grateful for when I got home.)
And that is how it has been from the beginning, and it has been such a pleasant surprise. I can honestly say, not once in the 6 months we’ve been holding classes have I had a bad time in class. I have been so surprisingly energized by the people I meet and their various backgrounds and stories and by the end of the night feel like I’ve made a room-full of new friends. Now, I’m sure I’m going to get a grumpy person at some point, and that’s not going to be fun. But, on the whole, the people I’ve met have been so warm and friendly that I feel like I’ve been at a party by the end of most nights. That’s a pretty sweet gig.
So thanks to all of you who’ve come and made class such a delight for me, and to the rest of you that I haven’t met – I can’t wait to meet you in a class sometime soon!
